Upon arrival in Paro, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your tour guide and transferred to your hotel. After a chance to settle in and relax, the journey begins with a visit to the National Museum of Bhutan. Housed in the ancient watchtower Ta Dzong, the museum displays an extensive collection of Bhutanese artifacts, including religious relics, traditional art, and historical treasures that offer insight into Bhutan’s rich culture and heritage.

As the day winds down, you’ll have time to stroll through the charming streets of Paro town, where you can explore local shops, handicrafts, and perhaps pick up a few unique souvenirs. The evening will conclude with dinner at a local restaurant, allowing you to enjoy authentic Bhutanese cuisine and a warm introduction to Bhutanese hospitality.

After breakfast, we’ll set off for Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Along the way, we’ll stop at Tamchog Lhakhang, where you’ll have the chance to cross the historic iron chain bridge, crafted by the renowned Bhutanese saint, Thangthong Gyalpo, also known as the “Iron Bridge Builder.”

Arriving in Thimphu, we’ll visit the School of Traditional Arts and Crafts, also known as the Institute of Zorig Chusum. Here, you’ll witness young Bhutanese artists mastering traditional crafts like intricate weaving, vibrant painting, and wood and stone carving—skills that have been passed down for generations and are integral to Bhutan’s cultural identity.

In the evening, we’ll unwind with a stroll through Thimphu’s bustling town center. You’ll have time to explore local markets, where stalls are filled with traditional Bhutanese textiles, handcrafted jewelry, and artisanal items. This is the perfect opportunity to engage with local artisans, savor Bhutanese street food, and soak up the lively atmosphere before returning to the hotel.

After breakfast, travelers will visit the National Institute of Zorig Chusum, where they will learn about the thirteen traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan. They will then visit the Textile Museum, which displays Bhutanese textiles and clothing, and the Folk Heritage Museum, which showcases the traditional Bhutanese way of life. In the afternoon, they will visit the Memorial Chorten, built in honor of the third king of Bhutan, and the Tashichho Dzong, a fortress and monastery that houses government offices and the throne room of the king.

in the morning, we’ll set off for Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan, known for its stunning landscapes and historical significance. Along the way, we’ll stop at Dochula Pass, a scenic viewpoint at 3,100 meters that offers panoramic views of the Himalayan mountain range. On clear days, you can see a spectacular stretch of snow-capped peaks, making it a perfect spot for photos and a peaceful moment to enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Upon arriving in Punakha, we’ll visit the iconic Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most majestic fortresses, beautifully situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Known for its brilliant architecture and historical importance, the Dzong served as the seat of Bhutan’s government for centuries and is still a key religious and administrative center.

In the afternoon, we’ll take a short hike through rice paddies and local villages to reach Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility. This unique temple, dedicated to Drukpa Kunley—the “Divine Madman” known for his unconventional teachings—has become a pilgrimage site for those seeking blessings for fertility and family. The tranquil setting and fascinating folklore around Drukpa Kunley’s life make this an unforgettable experience.

After breakfast, travelers will drive back to Paro. En route, they will stop at the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, which was recently rebuilt after a fire destroyed the old structure. Upon arrival in Paro, they will visit the Rinpung Dzong, a fortress that now serves as a monastic and administrative center. In the evening, they will enjoy a traditional Bhutanese cultural program.
