Today's agenda is designed for a gentle acclimatization to the altitude. We'll embark on a leisurely drive to Thimphu, where you'll check in to your hotel and savor your first experience of Bhutanese cuisine.

Pay homage at the National Memorial Chorten, a revered structure built to honor the memory of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Engage in the profound act of circumambulating the stupa, uniting with the local community to experience the collective spirit of spirituality.

Afterward, return to your hotel in Thimphu for an overnight stay, carrying with you the shared experience of this spiritual journey.

we Begin journey early in the morning from Thimphu and Travel through the scenic Dochula Pass, enjoying panoramic views of the Himalayas. Take a break at Dochula Pass to appreciate the breathtaking landscapes and visit the Druk Wangyal Chortens.

Descend from Dochula Pass and head towards Punakha.Explore Punakha Dzong, an architectural marvel situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers.Enjoy a delightful Bhutanese or international lunch at a local restaurant.

Visit the nearby Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan, for a short stroll. Explore Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple, known for its religious significance and picturesque surroundings.

Spend some leisure time exploring the Punakha town or simply enjoying the serene surroundings.Depart from Punakha and drive back to Thimphu.

Embark on an early morning journey from Punakha, traversing breathtaking landscapes enveloped in lush forests. Enjoy a short tea break along the way, capturing the stunning views and seizing the opportunity for memorable photos. Lunch will be served at a designated hotel during the scenic drive. As the day unfolds, the journey leads to Bumthang, considered the most holiest place in the country. Upon arrival, take a moment to relax at the hotel, rejuvenating from the long and picturesque ride through the heart of Bhutan.

Today is filled with excitement as we join our local community to celebrate the vibrant Jambay Lhakhang Drup Festival, a spectacle of colorful mask dances and traditional attire that illuminates the rich cultural tapestry. This festival offers a unique opportunity to immerse ourselves in the deep traditions and cultural heritage of Bhutan.
In the afternoon, we visit Kurje Lhakhang, renowned for Guru Rinpoche's body prints, making it one of the country's most sacred sites. Following this, we explore a holy spring that emerges from underground for 15 minute walk, immersing ourselves in its spiritual significance. Our journey continues with a nature walk to Tamshing Monastery, traversing a suspension bridge, where we delve into the rich art and culture of this sacred site.

The highlight of the day is the Dup Festival, also known as the Naked Dance, a profoundly special and unique event introduced by the renowned treasure revealer Dorji Lingpa in the 14th century. This ritual aims to dispel negative energies and evil forces from the community, making it a spiritually significant occasion.

In 2024, the Jambay Lhakhang Drup Festival is scheduled to take place from October 17 to 21. As evening approaches, around 8:00 pm, we will join the local people at Jambay Lhakhang to witness and partake in the lively dances. The performances are not only culturally enriching but also captivating, with some dancers expressing their joy through the unique and symbolic act of dancing naked.

 

On the second day, our journey unfolds with a morning immersed in the festival's vibrant sessions. As we soak in the cultural festivities, we'll refresh ourselves with the local community, witnessing their social gatherings and exploring the vibrant displays of goods. Our next stop is Jakar Dzong, a stunning fortress nestled on the valley hill, showcasing the architectural marvels of Bhutan.

In the afternoon, our adventure takes us to Mebar Tso, also known as the Burning Lake. This sacred site holds historical significance as the place where the great master Pema Lingpa discovered hidden treasures. The tranquil beauty of Mebar Tso, coupled with its spiritual importance, creates a serene backdrop for reflection and exploration.

As the evening unfolds, our journey continues with a visit to Kharchu Monastery. Here, we'll have the unique opportunity to witness the engaging spectacle of monk debates, a traditional practice that stimulates intellectual discussions and philosophical exchanges. Feel free to interact with the monks, gaining insights into their way of life and spiritual pursuits. To enhance the experience, a serene tea session will be served, allowing for a moment of tranquility amidst the monastery's spiritual ambiance.

As the morning unfolds, we embark on a picturesque drive to Gangtey Valley, reveling in the scenic views along the way. En route, a stop in Trongsa awaits, where we explore the renowned Trongsa Dzong, distinguished as the largest dzong in the country. Delve into its architectural grandeur and rich history.

In the afternoon, our journey continues towards Gangtey, where we visit the Gangtey Monastery. Nestled in the tranquil surroundings of Gangtey Valley, this monastery offers a serene retreat and a glimpse into Bhutan's spiritual heritage.

In the later evening, we venture into the local village, immersing ourselves in the rural charm of Bhutan. Stroll through the village lanes, engaging with the local community and absorbing the authentic essence of daily life.

As the night falls, we embark on a unique experience by spending the night at a local farm. This allows us to delve into rural Bhutanese life, offering not only a glimpse into the cultural tapestry but also an opportunity to savor the authentic local cuisine. The evening promises a tranquil and immersive encounter with the heart of Bhutanese rural living.

As the morning breaks, we embark on a brief nature walk through the enchanting Gangtey walking trails, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the valley. The tranquil surroundings and scenic landscapes provide a serene start to the day.

Following the nature walk, our journey continues with a visit to the Black Neck Crane Centre. Here, we delve into the fascinating world of these beautiful birds, learning about their behavior, habitat, and significance as winter residents in the region. It's an enriching experience, offering insight into the efforts to preserve and protect these magnificent creatures in their winter abode.

Subsequently, we embark on a scenic drive back to Thimphu, with lunch served along the picturesque journey. In the evening, we leisurely stroll through the vibrant streets of Thimphu city, taking the opportunity to explore local shops and indulge in some shopping. This allows for a delightful blend of cultural immersion and the chance to acquire unique souvenirs, creating lasting memories of our Bhutanese adventure.

In the morning, we kick off our day with a visit to the bustling farmer's market, where we witness a vibrant display of locally produced goods. After immersing ourselves in the lively market atmosphere, we continue our journey to Paro.En route, we make a stop to explore Tagcho Lhakhang, adding a touch of spirituality to our day.

In the afternoon, our exploration takes us to the majestic Paro Dzong, known as Rinphung Dzong or the Jewel of the Fortress. Nestled on a vantage point overlooking the town and beside the river, this historic site provides a captivating glimpse into Bhutanese architecture and culture.Following the visit to Paro Dzong, we continue our cultural journey with a visit to the Bhutan National Museum. Here, you can immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Bhutan's historical art and culture, gaining valuable insights into the kingdom's unique heritage.

As the evening unfolds, we gather for a brief but essential briefing about the upcoming Tiger's Nest hike. This session will include valuable information and preparation tips to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Following the briefing, the evening is dedicated to relaxation, allowing you to unwind and absorb the serene ambiance of Paro. An early bedtime is recommended to ensure you are well-rested and prepared for the adventurous journey to the iconic Tiger's Nest the next day.

We commence our day with an early drive to the Taktsang base, marking the starting point of our exhilarating hike to the Tiger's Nest. Upon arrival, there is the option for a pony ride towards the hill or the choice to relish a nature walk through the refreshing forest and alongside a babbling stream, taking in the picturesque views of Paro.

Upon reaching the Tiger's Nest Monastery, perched majestically on a cliff of 900 meters. Here, you can immerse yourself in a sense of calmness and spirituality. We engage in prayers, guided meditation, and mindfulness practices, allowing for a profound connection with the surroundings and a memorable spiritual experience at this iconic site.

A delightful lunch awaits you at the Taktsang viewpoint, offering not only a delicious meal but also a spectacular panorama of the Tiger's Nest. Savor both the nourishing cuisine and the breathtaking scenery before we commence our journey back to Paro.En route, we make a stop to explore the oldest temple in Bhutan, Kichu Lhakhang, steeped in historical and spiritual significance. After the temple visit, we indulge in a leisurely stroll through the charming Paro Town, providing an opportunity for shopping and leisure as you absorb the local atmosphere.

As the evening unfolds, we come together for a heartfelt farewell dinner, providing a warm and memorable conclusion to Drup Festival Tour. This gathering offers a chance to exchange experiences and reflections from the tour, creating lasting memories with fellow travelers and newfound friends. You have two main options for traveling to Bhutan: by air or by land. The national carrier, Royal Bhutan Airlines (Drukair) and Bhutan Airlines, operates direct flights from various Asian cities, including Bangkok, Singapore, Kathmandu, Dhaka, New Delhi, Kolkata, Gaya, Bagdogra, and Guwahati.

Additionally, you can enter Bhutan through two land gateways in India: Phuntsholing in southern Bhutan or Samdrup Jongkhar in the southeast. Travelers often choose Samdrup Jongkhar if their destination is in the eastern regions of Bhutan, such as Trashigang, Mongar, Lhuentse, and Trashiyangtse.

The level of customisation is entirely at your discretion! You have full control over your itinerary, including arrival and departure dates. Extend your trip as desired, and select any day for arrival or departure. The Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) is a daily fee imposed on visitors to contribute to Bhutan’s development. For all non-Indian visitors, the SDF is set at US$100 per person per night. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 at the time of travel receive a 50% concessionary discount on the SDF, while those aged 5 or younger are exempt.

The SDF for Indian nationals (showing a valid Indian passport or Voter ID card) is Nu. 1,200 (or the equivalent amount in Indian rupees) per person, per night. Children aged between 6 years and who have not yet turned 12 are eligible to pay Nu./INR 600 per night. Children who have not yet turned 6 years old do not have to pay any SDF.

Payment of the SDF is a prerequisite during the visa application process, with an additional non-refundable visa application fee of US$40.

Since the country’s opening in 1974, visitors have played a vital role in Bhutan’s growth, with SDF funds allocated to various projects enhancing facilities, services, infrastructure, and supporting free healthcare and education for both Bhutanese nationals and visitors.
